Decisionmaking & Sensemaking
This collection of Weickâs writings addresses a central theme of organizational sensemaking, which he defines as a means by which organizational members retrospectively make sense of situations, actions, and choices. The first part of the book describes what sensemaking is and how it fits within the context of organizations, followed by several articles that highlight the components of sensemaking: ecological change, enactment, selection, retention, and remembering. The book concludes with several articles that offer application-based research. These address transformational change within organizations, electronic information processing, and globalization.
