This field trip provided participants with an opportunity to observe an experimental 10-acre prescribed burn and learn about fire operations, effects, behavior, and fuel characterization methods. In addition, there was a Prescribed Fire Council station with information about how to establish a State Council. The site selected is a prime example of frequently burned interior ponderosa pine systems found in the Northern Rockies. 

All research equipment was on site for demonstrations to learn about the research being conducted and to foster discussions about expanding the use of prescribed fire through the co-production model of integrating researchers and managers. Equipment on site included drones, 3-D fuel samplers, fire behavior packages, thermal cameras, and more. Researchers were on hand at each station to discuss the on-going research.
