A significant amount of research has examined what motivates people living in the WUI to mitigate their wildfire risk, but drawing over-arching conclusions is difficult given the myriad of ways researchers have conceptualized and operationalized preparedness. This webinar examines how researchers have measured wildfire preparedness in the literature, and how survey design can influence subsequent analyses and interpretations of preparedness. The results show that surveyors and researchers should thoughtfully consider their methods before embarking on studies of homeowner preparedness in the WUI to maximize the value and efficacy of the effort. A Q/A session follows the webinar.
