As the 2023 fire season rages with unprecedented intensity in Canada, millions of people and countless animals across North America are exposed to wildfire smoke. Its harmful effects on human and animal health are only beginning to be explored in depth. Furthermore, the vast amounts of particles released may also affect the weather systems and have feedbacks on climate change.
