Suze Woolf

Suze Woolf’s work is usually about human relationships to nature, and she does much of it in the field. She studied ceramics and printmaking at the University of Washington. An early adopter of computer graphics, her career has included graphic and computer interface design. Now primarily a watercolorist, she explores a range of media from paper-casting and artist books to pyrography and installation, sometimes all together.

She has exhibited around Puget Sound but also in Utah, British Columbia, Maryland, California, Colorado, Oklahoma and Washington DC. Her work is in regional public collections as well as many private ones. She has curated a large travelling exhibit, juried public competitions and contributed work to arts and environmental organizations. She has received grants and awards from arts organizations and residencies in Zion, Glacier, Capitol Reef and North Cascades National Parks, the Grand Canyon Trust; and art colonies such as the Banff Centre, the Vermont Studio Center, Willowtail Springs, Jentel and Playa.

Lorena Williams

Lorena Williams is a writer, educator, wildland firefighter, and traveler. She taught English, creative writing, composition, and ESL at Chatham University and Duquesne University, both in Pittsburgh, PA from 2011-2016. She currently serves as Nonfiction Editor for Lime Hawk Literary Arts Collective and works as a wildland firefighter for the US Forest Service in Durango, CO.

A native of the American West, she writes about rock, sage, and the high desert. Her work has appeared in Interdisciplinary Studies of Literature and Environment, Not Somewhere Else But Here: A Contemporary Anthology of Women and Place, The Fourth River, and Touchstone journals, and was awarded Honorable Mention in The Atlantic Student Writing Contest and third place in the Torrey House Press Nonfiction Contest. In 2013, her chapbook, Relic, was release from Appaloosa Press.

Williams was born and raised in the remote eastern Oregon desert, where a passion for both reading and bushwhacking became firmly embedded in her psyche. Her affinity for writing is closely tied with her love of the land and her ventures while working on the family farm, white water rafting, traveling, and fighting fire. Having begun her college education studying marine biology, geology, and forestry, she eventually gravitated to the liberal arts, completing her BA in English and Creative Writing at Oregon State University. Still, she has never relinquished the desire to get her hands dirty.
